Our Beneficiaries

Over the past five Rotary years (1July 2017 to 30 June 2022) the Rotary Club of Mooloolaba has donated $343,739 to various Rotary and community charities and not-for-profits.

Every dollar raised through our various community fundraising activities is donated to these and other worthy causes.

Australian Rotary Health

Australian Rotary Health (ARH) was established in 1981 and is currently the largest non-government funder of research in Australia, specialising in the field of mental health.

That research is currently focussed on young people and is achieved through research grants, PhD scholarships and postdoctoral fellowships.

ARH also supports general health research, indigenous health scholarships and rural medical and nursing scholarships.

The Board Meeting Surf Charity

The Board Meeting Surf Charity (TBMSC) is a Sunshine Coast not-for-profit that aims to assist disabled children and their families with support that is not provided through government services such as NDIS.

Over the past few years Mooloolaba Rotary has supplied significant funding to TBMSC, mainly through our “A Night to Remember” Music Trivia Quiz (see "Upcoming Events” on the home page for our next evening).

Our funds have provided respite care for financially challenged families with severely disabled children, contributed towards a customised vehicle to transport a severely disabled youngster and supplied iPads loaded with specialised software to provide a “voice” for children who cannot speak.

The Rotary Foundation

Each year we contribute significant funds to Rotary’s own charity - The Rotary Foundation (TRF). TRF is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions.

The Foundation was created in 1917 by Rotary International's sixth president, Arch C. Klumph, as an endowment fund for Rotary "to do good in the world." It has grown from an initial contribution of US$26.50 to more than US$1billion. It has one of the largest and most prestigious international fellowship programs in the world.

Cittamani Hospice

Mooloolaba Rotary has provided financial support to Cittamani Hospice for many years.

Cittamani offers in-home support to terminally ill patients and their families here on the Sunshine Coast.

The latest support was the recent donation of a new car for use by Nurses traveling to patients’ homes to administer palliative care.

Annual RUSCCF Scholarship Awards

In 1996-97, the Rotary Club of Nambour and other Rotarians proposed that all Rotary clubs on the Sunshine Coast come together to support Australia's newest public university, the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC or the University).

At the same time, founding Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Thomas AM was promoting his strong vision that the University should be an integral part of the community.

The Rotary and University of the Sunshine Coast Community Fund (RUSCCF or the Fund) was created and the relationship is now well established.

Contributions to the Fund totals $229,599 (2022) and 65 scholarships have been presented.

RUSCCF scholarships are awarded annually to post-graduate students who have completed their initial undergraduate degree at the University and are enrolled in postgraduate studies at the USC at either Masters or Doctorate level.

A scholarship is awarded annually to one postgraduate student in each Faculty. A third scholarship recipient is nominated by the University's Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research.

Mooloolaba Rotary is the leading donor to this fund, having contributed in excess of $40,000 (2022).

Coast Guard Mooloolaba QF6

Mooloolaba Rotary has had a long association with Coast Guard Mooloolaba QF6, dating back to the 1970s when we supported the acquisition of their early rescue vessels and assisted them to establish their headquarters.
